Protecting your Privacy

At Investment Saskatchewan, we are committed to safeguarding the confidentiality and privacy of records and information. In all transactions with Investment Saskatchewan, you can be assured that your personal information is kept confidential and that your privacy is protected. Investment Saskatchewan is subject to The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Saskatchewan and protects your privacy as required by this legislation.

What is personal information?
Personal information means information or a combination of data that is recorded in any form and could be used to identify an individual. Investment Saskatchewan’s policies are designed to protect personal information including:

  • Name(s), where appearing with other personal information or where disclosure of the name would reveal personal information
  • Home address or telephone number
  • Nationality, age, sex, disability, marital status or family status
  • Employment history, education and credit records

Corporate and other business information is not personal information. Investment Saskatchewan protects business information through general policies, practices and contractual arrangements, subject to Investment Saskatchewan’s obligations under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Saskatchewan.

Why do we collect personal and corporate information?

Investment Saskatchewan collects and uses personal information for the purposes of operating and administering its programs and activities. These purposes include the following:

  • To establish and maintain responsible commercial relationships
  • To provide ongoing service for clients and partners
  • To allow ongoing correspondence and communications
  • To support background research and due diligence on potential investments
  • To manage and develop our business and operations
  • To comply with legal and regulatory requirements

In certain cases, information may be obtained with your permission from credit bureaus, other financial institutions and from the references you provide us.

Investment Saskatchewan Privacy Commitment
Our approach to handling personal information is modeled after the 10 principles laid out in the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information.

Accountability
Investment Saskatchewan has a designated Chief Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with Investment Saskatchewan’s Privacy Policy and Procedures.

Identifying purposes
When we ask you for personal information, we will identify the purpose(s) for which it will be used or disclosed.

Consent
Unless otherwise authorized or required by law, we require your knowledge and express or implied consent for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information.

Limiting Collection
We only collect as much personal information as we need to fulfill identified purposes.

Accuracy
We will endeavor to keep your information accurate, complete and up-to-date as is reasonably necessary to fulfill identified purposes.

Safeguards
We will protect your personal information with appropriate security safeguards. Only authorized personnel are permitted to have access to your information. Our procedures and systems are designed to protect your information from loss and unauthorized access.

Openness
Our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information will be made readily available to clients and partners.

Individual Access
You may apply for access to your personal information and request that it be amended, if appropriate. Your request will be handled in accordance with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Saskatchewan.

Challenging Compliance
You may address concerns regarding privacy compliance to Investment Saskatchewan’s Chief Privacy Officer.

It should be noted, however, that the provisions of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Saskatchewan will govern Investment Saskatchewan in any situations where such provisions conflict with these general 10 principles.
